Thousands Of Tourists Have Been Stranded At A Resort In China

Sanya, a popular tourist destination on Hainan Island off southern China's coast, is restricting tourists and residents after an outbreak of Covid-19. Public transportation was halted and people's movements restricted starting Saturday morning. Stranded tourists are required to stay for seven days and clear five Covid-19 tests before leaving. Authorities say around 80,000 tourists remain in the city. All those currently in Sanya as well as people who have been to the city since July 23 were not allowed to leave Hainan province after 6 p.m. local time Saturday. The restrictions come at the height of the summer tourism season for the island province — popularly known as China's Hawaii for its sandy beaches, tropical forests and high-end hotels. Saturday over 80 flights departing from Sany...

Tinder’s CEO Left The Company, Less Than A Year After She Was Hired.

In a letter to shareholders, Tinder's newly appointed CEO Bernard Kim announced that Tinder's former CEO Renate Nyborg would be leaving the company. In his letter, Kim outlined his "observations" from 62 days on the job. Kim said that Tinder has fallen short on product execution, attracting new users, and getting people to spend money even as it has continued to add new bells and whistles to its app in recent quarters. These additions include an integration with Spotify called "Music Mode," which allows people to share a music "Anthem" on their profile and "Blind Date," a feature that pairs people based on interests before revealing their photos. The letter went with the dating application monster's profit for the three months finishing off with June, which sent Match Group stock down 2...

"We began truly sharp, truly, not entirely settle...

The United States Will Join A US Military Exercise Near India’s Disputed Border With China.

The United States will hold joint military drills with India less than 100 kilometers from the disputed border with China. The military drills will take place at an altitude of 10,000 feet in Auli in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and will focus on high-altitude warfare training, according to a senior Indian Army officer with knowledge of the matter. Since a bloody clash between their soldiers in the Himalayas in June 2020 left at least 20 Indian troops and four Chinese soldiers dead, relations between India and China have been strained. Tensions have been raised further recently by China building a bridge across the Pangong Tso lake that sits along the border—a move condemned by the Indian government as an "illegal occupation." During a visit to India this year, the US Army's Pacific ...

Burberry Was Once Again A Favourite Haunt Shirtless Hollywood Actor Adam Driver.

During the summer season, there is an accessory that everyone is dying to see. A new commercial for Burberry's "Hero" fragrance, directed by Jonathan Glazer and photographed by Mario Sorrenti, features actor Adam Driver going viral for the second time in a year. In the ad, Driver can be seen running across a deserted beach at dusk with a mighty, caramel-colored horse in tow. The two beings dive into the ocean together and emerge as a single being—a centaur. This is a continuation of the first frenzy-inducing "centaur" commercial released by the brand exactly a year ago. The actor's fan base speculated that the rugged campaign images—which show Driver shirtless in waist-deep, crystal blue water—were a unanimous societal response to the question, "What is the female gaze?" (Originating...

A Growing Number Of Strippers, Actors And Others Are Seeking Protection From Unions.

On any given weekend night in North Hollywood, a group of dancers in outlandish costumes hold signs urging customers to stay away from the Star Garden Topless bar. More than a dozen of the club's dancers say they've been locked out for four-plus months because they petitioned the owners to reinstate two of their fired colleagues, improve security and safety measures, and recognize their right to form a worker union. In an environment where more American workers are leveraging their own power, these strippers have tried unsuccessfully to unionize before. That is to a great extent in view of fruitful unionization endeavors at behemoths like Starbucks (SBUX), Amazon (AMZN) and Apple (AAPL), which snatched features and motivated others to send off their own — including staple laborers at a ...
