Spacex Has Been Granted Permission To Install Starlink Internet Connectivity To Aircraft, Rvs.

SpaceX's satellite-based internet service, Starlink, has now been given authorization to expand, and will service aircraft, ships, automobiles, RVs and other mobile units. The company has moved to expand its customer base by first providing internet service for roughly $100 per month, primarily to homes in areas that have poor or no ground-based internet service. The company has hundreds of thousands of subscribers around the world. Now, the Elon Musk-led company is likely to begin providing its Starlink service to commercial airlines, possibly beginning with Hawaiian Airlines, which signed a deal in April with SpaceX saying it planned to bring complimentary Starlink services to some of its jets. The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday gave SpaceX permission to expand it...

Because Of The Wildfire Threat, Machu Picchu In Peru Recently Faced Threats.

Peru's firefighters were battling to control a forest fire near the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu on Thursday, as the fire threatened to reach the historic site high up in the Andes. The firebrand, which encompassed an area of roughly half the size of Vatican City, started on Tuesday by farmers burning undergrowth and debris to clear the way for a new planting season. As of Wednesday, about 20 hectares (49 acres) had been affected by the fire. The mayor of the nearby city of Cusco said that Machu Picchu, a complex of stone structures sitting atop a mountain, was built more than 500 years ago by Incas. The fire's remoteness has hindered firefighters' efforts. "We have already been fighting the forest fire for two days and it has not been possible to get it under control, given the area is ...

Coco Gauff Lost Wimbledon To The National Tennis Player Amanda Anisimova.

A highly emotional Amanda Anisimova got the better of her southpaw opponent Coco Gauff during singles on Centre Court on Saturday. The two Americans battled in a high-quality matchup; Anisimova won, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-1. Anisimova, who had never played on the center court at Wimbledon, said after her win: "It's just a huge privilege to play on this court playing Coco. Winning is so special, especially in front of a full crowd -- you guys were amazing." Gauff, who had won the first set 6-3, led 2-1 in the second before Anisimova settled into the match -- it was the first time she had played a match on the main court at Wimbledon. By the end of the set, both players were separated by a tiebreak which Gauff managed to win before momentum swung back in favor of Anisimova. Gauff's first se...

Deep Within The Eastern Forests Of Ukraine, This Group Of Volunteers Awaits The Russian Military Forces’ Advance.

For less than a fortnight, Maxym and his friends have been sleeping in earthen dugouts, eating food heated over campfires, and hearing the news of the Russians advancing in the vicinity of just one mile. "Of course they are going to come," he says. "They are far more numerous than we are." They are dug deep into this dense eastern Ukrainian forest, near Slovyansk, and are part of Ukraine's territorial defense -- non-professional soldiers who signed up in the opening days of Russia's February invasion. So far, they have avoided contact with the enemy by hiding beneath camouflage nets next to giant pyramids of bottled water. But every moment of every day they live with the thud of artillery and are showered with cluster munitions. Their wooded encampment is regularly struck by anti-tank w...

The Texas Supreme Court Issues An Order Permitting The Enforcement Of A State Ban On Abortions That Was Put In Place Over 100 Years Ago.

The Texas Supreme Court issued an order late Friday partially granting state Attorney General Ken Paxton's request to stay a lower court order that had temporarily blocked enforcement of most of a nearly century-old abortion ban in the state. The state high court's order now allows civil enforcement of the 1925 pre-Roe v. Wade ban, according to court documents. The Center for Reproductive Rights says that, according to its interpretation of the stay, the law cannot be enforced criminally. CNN reached out to Paxton's office on Saturday to ask whether it agrees that criminal prosecutions remain stayed but has not received a response as of Saturday afternoon. Paxton, a Republican, lauded the state high court's ruling on Twitter on Saturday. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton praised the ...

A Time-Tested Practice May Provide Temporary Relief From Chronic Tension Headaches.

People who experience a particularly persistent type of headache pain may derive relief by performing an ancient Chinese practice, according to recent research. For people that have chronic tension-type headaches, acupuncture can reduce the amount of monthly headaches. This was published in a journal by the American Academy of Neurology on June 22. A tension headache is a pressing or tightening feeling on both sides of the head with mild to moderate intensity. After two months of treatment, acupuncture may provide relief from chronic tension headaches for at least eight months, said Dr. Ying Li, principal investigator of the study and professor at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Past investigations have discovered that needle therapy might be compelling for lon...

The London Pride Celebration Kicked Off With An Extravagant Queer Ball At Koko.

As London welcomes the 50th anniversary of Pride, Camden will host a reimagined Koko in Camden, serving as the venue for the inaugural "Ciroc Iconic Ball," staged in support of Not A Phase, which brings together people of all genders and orientations to provide safe spaces. In the ballroom community, five iconic house mothers—Sinia Alaia, Devine Gucci, Stasha Sanchez, Jusss Kelly and Lola Gucci—led performers in five different categories at Koko in an evening of celebrations and fantastical fashion. The categories were inspired by five decades of Pride: 1970s Vogue, 1980s Fashion Bazaar, 1990s Face, 2000s Best Dressed and 2010s Runway. Participants were judged on their costumes' creativity and adherence to each decade's aesthetic. Karteer, JJ Prodigy, Jozea, Kyle London and Ed Montero e...

Tesla Was Expected To See A Drop In Sales In The Second Quarter Of The Year.

One effect of China's coronavirus lockdowns was a dip in Tesla's production and sales. Tesla reported that completed sales plummeted 18 percent, to approximately 255,000 vehicles in mid-June compared to the first three months of the year. Production decreased about 15 percent, to around 259,000. The Tesla factory in Shanghai was closed for several weeks in April due to a lockdown rule aimed at alleviating a spike in cases of the flu. Tesla's problems with suppliers’ also limited production even after the factory reopened. The plant was forced to shut down again in May as officials tried to prevent an increase in outbreak-related deaths. The lockdowns likely cost Tesla production of about 70,000 vehicles in the quarter, according to Dan Ives, tech analyst for Wedbush Securities. However,...
